About CLARYN Foundation

A community-based nonprofit dedicated to improving health equity and well-being in underserved populations

Our Background

CLARYN Foundation Inc. extends from a comprehensive Community Assessment conducted in 2024 during a Health Minister's course at Wesley Theological Seminary. That assessment focused on the area surrounding New Beginnings Church of God of Prophecy in Prince George's County, evaluating for food swamps or food deserts, and surveying local faith-based organizations near Doctor's Community Hospital regarding participation in revitalizing the hospital's Community Garden.

Review of the Community Health Assessment (CHA) for Doctor's Community Hospital highlighted persistent unmet needs in food access and healthcare access in this catchment area. These findings underscore the importance of engaging local stakeholders in sustainable interventions to reduce disparities.

Through education, referrals, and outreach, we connect individuals and families to essential healthcare and mental health resources. Our programs also address food insecurity by enhancing access to nutritious foods and providing education on healthier eating habits. Guided by compassion, equity, collaboration, and integrity, we strive to empower communities to achieve lasting physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Mission

Our mission is to empower and strengthen the community by providing comprehensive education and referrals that address healthcare and mental health needs. We are committed to improving access to nutritious food for individuals and families affected by food insecurity and to promoting education on healthier eating habits that support overall well-being and long-term health equity.

Vision

Our vision is to create a healthier, more equitable community where every individual has access to quality healthcare, nutritious food, and the knowledge and support needed to achieve physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
